It was a perfect day in Fall to hike up to the Hublein Tower that sits 1000 feet at the top of Talcott Mountain in Simsbury. Connecticut. The Tower, which is 165 square feet, was built in 1914 as a summer home by Gilbert Hublein. Two future presidents stayed there in the 1950's Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan. Our intial walk was on a steep slope then it flattened out and then we walked on the edge. I had forgotten how stupendous the view was up there. We brought some sandwiches and used the picnic tables while we inhaled the fresh cool crisp air. It is not unusual to spot some wild life like turkeys, deer and foxes to name a few. I must say I have gone up there numerous times but the view and the air always makes me feel so energized. Of course you can always climb a set of stairs to get a better view of what nature has to offer.
